Ultra-Low-Sulfur Diesel (ULSD)

Ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD)

What exactly is ULSD?

ULSD is a diesel fuel that has been refined to remove sulfur to such a degree that its sulfur content does not exceed: 15 parts per million (15 ppm) (i.e. 0.0015%). It is the standard used in Europe, the United States, and many countries in Asia and the Middle East.

Why was ULSD developed?

The difference between ULSD and traditional D2

Environmentally friendly No Yes
Suitable for modern engines No Yes
Harmful emissions Higher Very low

Typical ULSD specifications
